Renate identifies as feminist lesbian. Since 1996 she has worked with human rights organisations and other stakeholders in the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. She lived in the North Caucasus in 2002-2004, working for a British-Chechen development aid organisation. In 2008 she started working at COC Netherlands, as an international project manager. As part of her work for COC, she worked in Central Asia to develop partnerships with LGBT organisations, and she engaged with LBQ activists and groups, finding ways to support their work and build, empower and mobilize the LBQ community. Since 2016 she has been working in the region of South and South East Asia and she also coordinates the work around LBQ women* within COC, at the national and international level. Renate is really excited to facilitate with colleague Chris the process that will lead to the first ever global LBQ Women*’s conference!
